QTR-8RC red ( IR Sensor Array )

The QTR-8RC Reflectance Sensor Array is a high-performance infrared tracking module designed specifically for line-following robots and maze solvers. It features eight IR emitter and receiver pairs spaced 0.375" (9.525 mm) apart. Unlike the analog version, the "RC" version uses a capacitor discharge timing method, allowing it to be read by digital I/O pins without the need for an ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter). Key Features: 8-Channel Precision: Eight sensors provide high-resolution tracking of lines, allowing for smoother PID control and curve handling. Digital Interface: Uses a RC (Resistor-Capacitor) timing circuit; the microcontroller measures the time it takes for the output voltage to decay, which is proportional to the reflectance. Flexible Logic: The board can be split into two pieces (a 2-sensor and a 6-sensor strip) to fit custom chassis designs or specific sensing needs. Controllable Emitters: Features an "LEDON" pin that allows you to turn off the IR LEDs via software to save power when the sensor is not in use. Optimized for Speed: The digital reading method allows for simultaneous reading of all 8 sensors on most microcontrollers, significantly reducing sensing latency.
